Carlisle edge low scoring encounter and strengthen survival prospects.
Jordan Oultrim and Simon Plevin shared 9-wickets to bowl Carlisle Seconds to victory at Caldbeck, putting further distance between them and the bottom sides in the EVCL Premier.
Oultrim was the pick of the bowlers, clearing up the tail to finish with 6-33 as Caldbeck could make only 73 in just 25 overs.
Previn got the team’s successful afternoon underway, taking out three of Caldbeck’s top order to boast fine figures of 10-6-8-3.
However, it took a typically resolute and unbeaten 33 from Nicky Whitfield to ensure the win as Carlisle’s reply got off to a shaky start.
Only skipper, Olly Bradley made double figures in the top five as Caldbeck sensed an unlikely comeback.
Whitfield though steadied the ship to complete a four wicket victory and ensure the full 8 points.
Seconds are back in actin in a fortnight with no game next weekend.
