Carlisle IIs stop the rot with crucial win at Wigton.

Carlisle 2nds needed a win to avoid dropping into the relegation zone with their opponents Wigton. Stand in skipper Burnett lost the toss and was inserted. 20 odd in the first few overs was a flyer but the openers soon went. At this stage Oultram and the skipper dug in and got us to drinks. 10’s and 20’s from one or two others got us to 170. An early wicket in reply was the only joy for the visitors as edges flew safely. Their second wicket was worth well over 50 but to their credit, the boys kept on bowling and fielding well. And eventually it was Plev coming up the hill and into the wind, who broke through and ended up with 4. From there, wickets fell regularly and the winning margin was about 20. 8 valuable points and a slight relaxing of sphincters – for now…
