Fantastic response from volunteers keen to take part in Roman Bath House dig.
Open day to be held this Saturday for those keen to take part.
Archaeologists preparing a four week dig on the site of the Roman Bath House at Edenside have had a huge response to their call for volunteers to help out.
The month long excavation will determine exactly what lies beneath the old tennis courts and how it can be saved as an asset for the city.
So far, many people have asked to be involved, with a wide range of tasks to be completed.
They include trowelling, cleaning and cataloguing finds, metal detecting and acting as a tour guide.
It’s not too late to ask to be part of this historic project. Go to The Dig tab on this website, and use the specially set up email to contact the archaeology team.
There is also an open day hosted by the lead archaeologist, Frank Giecco this Saturday at 1.30pm at the Jimmy Little pavilion next to the site.
Volunteers and anyone interested in taking part is welcome to attend to find out how they can help and how the dig will proceed.
