Cheerio Alex, and thanks for the memories!

Sadly, at the end of a magnificent season, we bid a fond farewell to our hugely popular overseas star, Alex Calmy.

Not only was Alex a superb signing as the First team chased promotion to the Premier League, he proved to be a champion off the pitch too.

Alex made many friends within the club and beyond with his whole hearted approach to playing and his commitment to the club’s wider needs.

Alex helped coach all our age groups and acted as a willing volunteer as the club moved on from the floods of last winter.

Who can forget the hat trick that blew away promotion rivals, Lindal at Edenside?  Or the stunning, running catch and aggressive lower order runs at Workington in the Higson Cup?

So many top performances.

Alex has our best wishes as he sets off travelling round Europe before heading home to play in home town, Perth, Australia.

Lets hope we haven’t seen the last of him at Edenside.
