Hogie’s men maintain promotion push.
Report by skipper, Lee Hogarth.
After last weekends Cup Final defeat it was back to League action for the 3rd Team and the visitors to Edenside were Stainton 2nds.
After losing the toss Carlisle were asked to bat and we got off to the worst possible start losing McStay to the 5th ball of the innings bowled by Mulholland.
This brought Morris to the crease joining Jacob, both were steady but struggling to get the bowlers away but still put on 43 for the 2nd wicket when Morris holed out trying to get after Forrester who was bowling ridiculously slow.
Jordan was next to the crease and set about upping the run rate and in his haste to do this there was a run out and Jacob was gone for 22.
Phil Fraser next in and both he and Jordan continued to up the run rate until Jordan got one that popped and was caught and bowled by Mulholland.
Will Bell was next in and knowing we needed runs on the board was caught for nought. Taryn was next in and soon back after a quick 10 runs seen Cameron Westmorland join Phil who was nearing his 50 which he duly got in the last over, taking us to 153 for 6 after our 40 overs.
Pamphillon and Hodgson got Staintons reply off to a good start and were scoring fairly freely when Hogarth made the 1st change and brought himself on for Fraser.
Will made the breakthrough soon after, dismissing Hodgson with the score on 42.
Pamphillon was picking off the bad balls which brought the next change with Jordan Oultram coming on for Will who bowled a tidy 7 overs 1-19.
Jordan was soon in on the action and dismissed Pamphillon caught behind by Wittred. 54-3 was quickly 55-4 when Hogarth bowled Dadley for 0 and Hogarth was quick to strike again bowling Mulholland again for zero. Skipper finished with 2-23 from 10.
This brought a steady flow of wickets and in no time Jordan had picked up a 5-fer to follow on from 6-fer last time out for the 2nds. Jordan finished with 5-20 from 8 overs.
The next bowiling changes brought Taryn and Macca and needing 2 wickets for the 8 points we didn’t have to wait long with Macca wrapping up the Stainton innings.
With 4 games remaining our destiny is in our own hands starting with Carleton next Sunday, a win there and we can seriously start to think about winning the league as we can potentially finish 2 point ahead of Lanercost
